Must-Have Tools for a Smooth & Successful Cake Baking Class

1. Cake Pans:

The right cake pan is key to a successful bake. Non-stick aluminium pans are great because they heat evenly and help cakes come out easily. For most cakes, 8-inch or 9-inch round pans are the go-to. 

2. Mixer:

Mixing ingredients by hand needs more strength and time; a stand mixer makes the mixing process faster and easier. If you feel like you don’t have much space for a stand mixer, you can always go for a hand mixer, it gives the same smooth consistency as the stand mixer.

3. Spatulas & Offset Spatula : 

Spatulas are important for mixing and spreading buttercream. An offset spatula is helpful for getting a smooth buttercream finish. It lets you spread frosting evenly and control the texture, giving your cakes a clean look.

4. Piping Bags and Tips:

Piping bags are the tool used to decorate cakes with beautiful designs. By using different tips, you will be able to get into details like borders or flowers.

5. Turntable :

A cake turntable makes decorating much easier. You can spin the cake as you decorate, making sure an even coat on all sides.

6. Bench Scraper :

A bench scraper is used to smooth out the buttercream on the sides of your cake. it collects all the extra frosting to get a clean, sharp edge. The right amount of coating on your cakes gives a polished look.

7. Cake Leveller :

When you’re working on cakes like stacked cakes, where all the layers have to be at the same height cake leveller will help you maintain the cake’s height, making it appear more even.

8. Cooling Rack :

Once your cakes are baked, it’s important to cool them. A cooling rack helps air flow around the cake,  preventing it from becoming soggy. The cooling rack is used to keep your Cakes Fresh until you’re ready to decorate.

9. Cake Decor Kits : 

Here comes the fun part of cake baking. Having a good cake decorating kit can make your cake unique by giving it more life.  A cake decor kit has tools like brushes, stencils, and even edible decorations like glitter. 

10. Thermometer :

A kitchen thermometer is what you use to test the temperature of your butter, which is extremely important to a silky buttercream. Butter must be soft, not melted, and this little tool  will inform you when it’s time to mix.
